I've always struggled all my life

to define myself, daughter? mother? wife?

I thought the answer would come to me

as it did for others naturally

and then one day I hit a wall

at full speed and I did fall

with chewed up skin and spit out teeth

a wake up call, I do believe

and then my voice rose from the dust

like fresh green grass from volcanic crust

my words did soothe and healed my soul

they came to me at constant flow

I found my voice at 40 years

a gift of love for my readers ears
