“Would you cry, if you saw me crying?” My favorite song  was blasting through my radio.  I was driving over to my boy friend’s house. I wanted to see him and I knew he would be home. I was 21, going to college and dating the perfect boy.  His name was Erik and he looked like a surfer you see on TV.  He and I had been going out for almost a year now.

Soon his house came into my view. It was a big house, with a beautiful garden that looked like it was from Northanger Abbey.  Pulling into his driveway, I noticed his car wasn’t there. Where was he? He should be here. He was always here at this time.  My cell phone went off, an unknown number. “Hello.” I said, wondering who is calling me.

“Hey.” A very familiar voice said to me. It was Erik but he sounded disappointed.  “I need to talk to you.” “Ok, talk.” This was weird; he never did something like this. “Will you promise me something? I need you to do this.”

“Sure, Erik, what is it?” “I want you to go to my garden shed.” What was going on? How did he know I was here? “What, why?”  I asked; wanting him to just tell me what is going on.

He hung up on me. Confused, I walked around to the garden shed. Slow, sweet music was playing. Peeking inside I saw it all decorated, candles, everything and in the middle was Erik, down on one knee, holding a box.

He flipped the box open to a beautiful ring “Alyssa, this year I  realized that I love you and I want you to marry me this Valentine day.” His clear blue eyes  staring into my green ones. “ Yes,” I gasped out, “yes, this valentine’s day I will marry you.” He put the ring on my hand; it was a perfect fit.

On Valentine day, we were married to live happily ever after. Well until the next year when Erik decided to; oh sorry that is a story for another time.
