I want to be beautifully imperfect to you,

In a way that makes you love me more.

Love me when I'm running wild,

Or reading on the floor,

Like the dust on a book that's been read too many times,

And poems that touch you with imperfect rhymes.

Love me for my stormy eyes and wild hair,

My forgetfulness, and the way that I wear passion like a favorite, worn out dress.

Love me for the mess that is me, and the way I cry,

Hair tangled, and puffy eyes, with that tiny voice that says

"I just wish I could understand."

Love me through the piles of things I leave like a pathway to my heart,

And love me through the stories I tell with my art,

And love me

As though I am the falling star,

That will fade into the distant sky.
