There are many times in my life where I was confused and didn’t know what to do. Those are the times that forced me to go deeper into God’s Word. The treasure that I found reading God’s Word was absolutely priceless. In moments when my life appeared to be falling apart, that’s when I experienced the most growth.
This doesn’t mean that I had to go through pain to experience growth. It was, however that my attention was away from the truth at that moment. It was that my lack of understanding on what was going on created the experience of chaos and suffering.
I can remember when I had to give up my first apartment because of financial situations. It was really difficult for me because that was a place I was finally calling my own, but moving back with my family and being taken cared for was a blessing in disguise. Sometimes I got caught up not liking my situation that I was missing the blessing in being home with my family. The truth is that I wanted my own space, something I could call my own. I couldn’t get my mind to look at anything different.
Sometimes we interfere our wants with our needs with God’s plan, even when our present situation is the result of an answered prayer.
I recognize that my spiritual journey may sometimes be overwhelming because in order to recognize the power and presence of God’s Spirit, we need to let go of any preconceived ideas of how it should look or be. The challenge is not just recognizing what we must let go, but remembering that God is in charge of our daily life.
If there is one thing I have learned my years at Zion, it is that whatever is happening in my life at the present time, God knows about it. That is why I can honestly say, that in my darkest moments I didn’t realize that I have been given the opportunity to shine wherever I may go. When we can finally learn how to shine our light onto anything that comes our way, challenges will come, only this time they will have no power over us.
