You take my hand and we run through the night,
Too tired to care, too frightened to fight.
Laughter explodes like magical bliss,
Something the rest of them seemed to have missed.

The search lights come searching; we hide with a tree,
My arms around you and your arms around me,
And as they start to continue their bigoted work,
I look in your eyes, and am filled with hurt.

Your fingertips leave me, you turn to dust,
Your mind disperses, your soul turns to lust.
You fly away in the wind, through the tall pines,
And I curse them and remember; you could never be mine.
