A letter sent to President Obama, circa 2011, requesting Oversight of the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC); which squandered Federal dollars while children with medical injuries languished without proper care. He dreams of a future of accommodation - we dream of a future not dictated by disability...There was no reply, at all.

Dear President Obama -

I am tired. I am beyond broke. I am exhausted. And I am tired of tilting at windmills. Please send money, now. Why have eight years passed, since the formation of the IACC; and the best this organization can offer me is, "HOPE = Research," a quote from Dr. Insel yesterday, in Orlando. For my daughter, her peers, those who came before, and the babies being born today, REALITY=1000%INCREASE in Autism prevalence since the formation of the IACC. Dr. Insel was clear that at least half of this increase cannot be explained away; and further that SEVERE Autism has increased 13% with each passing year.

Greater than 1% of American children are facing a lifetime of disability, most bereft of even the basic and essential services needed to ensure their safe passage through the day. Medical care is scanty, therapies are paltry, and education amounts to glorified day care - for far too many children with Autism. Children with Autism are beaten, restrained, and lost by their schools; and suffer untimely deaths at home. These children need concrete solutions NOW; they do not have the luxury of awaiting the results of prospective study of pregnant women and babies born today.

My daughter is a child with Autism; the problem is "Autism" is not a psychiatric disability - it is a medical disability. Her epilepsy, hypotonia, mitochondrial dysfunction, hippocampal sclerosis, myelin antibodies, hypoxia, heavy metal toxicity, and many other diagnosis' work together to create her "Autism." She was not born with these disorders, she developed them, starting with a neurological event following her vaccines at her 4-month well-visit. Her experience is not unique.

Our family has spent our retirement, mortgaged our home, sacrificed one income-earner, and run every available credit-line out, simply addressing our eldest’s basic needs. We have little of value left to sell-off; and she has a lifetime of disability ahead. Property taxes are due, but so is her next round of care - do we keep the house or meet our child's health-care needs?

We have patiently waited eight years in "vaccine court" for our turn to be heard. It appears we will not be heard before she reaches adulthood. Her childhood was stolen and her health decimated, and we cannot even offer the solace of symptom resolution as she languishes on waiting lists for therapies, specialists, education, disability funding, and her day in court.

She is but one of over 600,000 American children whose lives have been suspended by “Autism.” The root cause of “Autism” for too many of these children, environmental harm, MUST be addressed; NOW. We can no longer afford to protect careless manufacturers of products that are permanently disabling our children and our Nation's future. The IACC declared,” Presently, there is no effective means to prevent the disorder, no fully effective treatment, and no cure. Early intervention is critical for affected children to gain maximum benefit from current therapies,” in 2002.

Sadly, eight years later, they have nothing new to report (other than a 1000% increase in prevalence). It has become abundantly clear that HHS is busy protecting its CDC-driven vaccine program by directing all discovery efforts of the IACC, under HHS’ NIMH, toward genomic research (geared toward assisting manufacturers in identification of “targets” for new pharmaceutical “therapies”) while engineering research specifically designed to fail to provide damning answers that might jeopardize its defense in “vaccine court” (where the HHS’ role is ”Respondent” against vaccine-injured children).

If the vaccine program is truly worthy of its protected status, it could easily withstand the scrutiny of the health outcomes of a vaccinated versus unvaccinated population; after all, we are constantly told the risks of vaccination are minute and the benefits significant. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated populations are readily available; the IACC need look no further than metropolitan Chicago to find a ready-made unvaccinated study cohort. Homefirst’s practice, which includes 75,000 individuals from all walks of life, cultures, and ethnicities (35,000 of them children), offers a heterogeneous population that has chosen an integrative, natural approach to healthcare; Autism is scarce in this practice.

So why, after eight years of “research” has this simple study been purposefully omitted from the IACC’s agenda and funding? We owe it to the children of this Nation who have been sacrificed “for the benefit of the herd” to HONESTLY attempt to first identify the factors which can and do cause harm, then mitigate the harm already done, and finally protect tomorrow’s children from these known environmental hazards.

It is time to direct the activities of the IACC to take place independent of HHS, and funding to address the concerns of the Autism community at-large. The Autism community needs quality programs of health-care, education, and therapies, pure, clean food and water, and the restoration of our financial security.

Your plans speak of accommodation, community choice, and workplace inclusion – this should be the future of last resort. Families do not dream of limited futures dictated by DISability, reduced expectation, and forced acceptance; we dream of our children meeting their future ABLE to conceive their own dream and make it a reality. Please institute a transparent and accessible committee, free of conflict of interest, to immediately address these concerns.

With hopes our children all experience adulthood free of the tyranny of Autism,

L Pa
