Simple, small short story. Maybe something I could build upon, but I am trying to start small. Let me know if you enjoy.

In a cold, dark room beneath a house in the middle of nowhere sat a young woman with tears flowing from her eyes. Down on her knees, she laid with her head within her hands. A tear fell onto a piece of paper resting on the wooden floor; a photograph from not too long ago. She opened the view of her face, picked up the photo and swept the tear away, brushing over the face of her late husband, Charles Ernst. She recalls the very day it was taken; she helped her horse give birth to a healthy baby faun. In the photo, she saw herself wrapped in Charles’ arms. She was pink in the face; sweaty with her bold, red hair tied back and out of the way. She turned the photo over to see the description: “Charlie and Jamie, April 2010”.
She turned the photo back over, and stared at the man she loved. She thought about Charlie’s strict black hair. She would always cut it when it got too long, but would heave remarks when he looked goofy because of its shortness. She remembered his sweet voice, but was interrupted by creaks at the foot of the garage doorway. She looked, gasped, and stood up. She ran into his arms and broke once more into tears. They pulled away to look into each other’s eyes, and once their eyes met, he vanished right before her. She laid out a heavy sigh, trotted up the stairs to the dining room table, sat down in front of her composition notebook and began to write.
“Day 10. 12:42 PM. I met Charlie in the bedroom again. Just like he said I would…”
