I was blind, but now I see
Deaf, but now I hear
Mute, but now I speak
Strong, but now I fear

You see it wasn’t the things that went bump in the night
or the stories of the ones who kill
It was the truth that shook me, the little slither of light
that gave me the coldest of chills

They kept me up at dawn,
afraid to close my eyes
the truth that I despised so strong
and made me plea for lies

“We beg for the truth, but are too scared to hear it”
Simply because we fear it.
“We condemn the lie, but we beg for it”
Simply because we breath it.

I took the sharp sword of truth to slit my putrid tongue,
and smashed my eyes upon two rocks.
Plugged my ears with cracker crumbs,
and imprisoned my soul behind locks.

I could see, but now I’m blind
I heard, but now I’m deaf
Spoke, but now I’m mute
Cursed, but now I’m blessed.
