A Story about the Strongest Tree.

As he fell to his knees, his men rushed to catch his fall. Quietly the falling man said “Let me fall, this is my fate.” His first man spoke up in a hopeless tone he couldn't have hid if he tried, “What can we do for you sir?” As his men carefully worked him from his knees to his back, he stated in a crushed dying voice, “Hold this ground!”

Just after the fallen man finished speaking he started to feel a grip pulling at him from above and as his world started going dark a surge of power rushed to the last useful part of his body. Only with aid of the experience from all the hits in all of his previous battles forcing his mind to stay awake, he screamed up at the tightening grip that was pulling at him, “Not yet you son of a gun!”

He felt there was no loosening in this grip but the pulling ceased for the time being. His first man spoke for the third time, “What can we do for you sir?” In a crumbling voice the man said, “Save your morphine, hold this ground.” The dying leader choked out some final words “Take this with you.” Before his first man could even reach down, the dying man unexpectedly started to speak of a tree in his backyard.

Slowly and intently in a slightly clearer voice the fallen leader began to speak, “This tree has seen many generations of men and yet it is still very young, without a doubt is the strongest tree in the world.”

The dying man spoke of this tree as if he had watched it grow from just a seedling just like a father would speak of watching his son grow to manhood.

“The soil that grows this tree has something so special in it,” he spoke. “This soil is like no other in the world.”

“The soil has the sweat of every manner of immigrants from all races and cultures, all fleeing from Tyranny!” “This gives the Tree remembrance and makes it grow intelligently and helps it to never forget which way it has grown in the past.”

“The soil also carries the spilled blood from men, women and children of all colors, chained and unchained who fought united, hand in hand for their families freedom, all fighting against Tyranny! “This fills the Tree with respect and understanding which in turn helps focus the Tree to stay the course when times get hard and its protectors start to divide.”

“Possibly even the most special in the soil is the tears lost from the families and friends of the ones who never left their battlefields, all battlefields which were fronts against Tyranny!” “This gives the Tree spirit, courage and fortitude.” “Spirit gives the Tree ability against treason and lies, and foresight into the shadows to help shine light on those tyrants posing with subterfuge.” “Courage keeps the tree straight, tall and in the realm of Truth and while in the realm of Truth no tyrant can deceive or divide with rhetoric or falsehoods.” “With such a diverse group of protectors the Tree needs Courage and uses tears of the past to show that all tyrants first wield rhetoric and use it to divide the diverse from uniting against them.” “Every tear that drops also gives the Tree even more fortitude so when a tyrant gets through the Tree has enough constitution to take the hits until help arrives.”

“Tyrants are always hiding in shadows around the Tree and they may hide forever waiting to unsheathe their axes, but for every tyrant there are many many more men, women and children of all colors, religions and cultures ready to unite, ready to stand together with differences aside and fight and die for future freedom against Tyranny!”

Every second the great leader spoke of the Tree in his backyard it also took him to work free a personal small metal pin from his uniform collar. The great leader had no strength left to lift his arms but his first man knew what he wanted. The first man took the object with one hand and with the other held both hands of his fallen leader. The new leader looked down into his hand holding the little object and thumbed away the thick blood which had fully painted a small and very worn American Flag. In an instance all the misunderstanding for this great fallen soldier had dissolved away leaving absolutely no uncertainty.

In the time it took the darkness to release this veteran soldier and great leader from all his pain, he remembered rising through what seemed all of the highest levels of the highest worlds and when he finally succumbed to full darkness one last burst of light flashed about him. As his last sense of consciousness faded, it only took three words to enter his mind and lift all his sins and resolve all his nightmares and regrets, God Loves Freedom!

A story from the hearts and the souls of those who have stood up in the face of Tyranny with their actions or their words and said “NO! You WILL NOT divide us! You WILL NOT take our FREEDOM!” created through the nightmares of one! I hope all will enjoy and share!
