Badly beaten, bruised

She was of no use

Sitting alone in the alley

Like she was a painting in a gallery.

Once was she loved

Once was she hugged

Peace was all she knew.

But how all that changed

Her life was a daze

A dull, cloudy haze of misery.

Of loneliness.

The rain poured on her head

And the ground was stained red

From the blood of her wounds.

Her whimpers were small

Like an echo through a hall.

As she sat there wondering what she'd done wrong.

Didn't you love me?

Didn't you care?

Then why did you leave me to die out here?

So many questions

But no answers found

And the rain keeps on pouring down.

How long will she suffer?

How long will she last?

Until death arrives and shatters her past.

Giving up hope is not as easy as said

And she will hopefully find a new home.

One filled with joy

Not filled with pain

One filled bright, sunny, cloudless days

One filled with laughter

One filled with hope

But most of all one filled with love.

Sleep pulls her in

As the darkness begins.

She whishes on a shooting star

Praying to find a home

And to let her pain was away

Gentle hands smooth her fur

As she lays by a warm fire.

Her wish has come true

At long last

And she has now forgotten her past

With a whisk of the wind it is all blow away

So that she may live free

For the rest of her days.
