A short story I thought up one day about facing my fear of heights with a fun little reference at the end.

Heights

With reluctance she opened her eyes to see where he had taken her.
As she stood on the edge of the cliff and stared out into the vast open valley she could feel her heart pound in her ears.
“They must be 5,000 or more feet in the air,” she thought.
Her chest felt so tight in between her rapid breathing.  Her body shook with panic.
They were too high, and she told him how afraid she was of heights.
“Why would he bring them this high?”
“WHY?!” her mind was racing a million miles a second.
Suddenly a strong breeze blew over them filling her ever failing lungs and making the ground feel like it was swaying beneath her bare feet. With her toes gripping the ledge she clutched a piece of her shirt that lay over her heart wishing she could reach inside her chest and make it beat, because she could swear it wasn't.
Just then an even stronger gust of wind blew over and she felt her knees give out. Her eyes rolled back and just when she thought it would all end right there he swiftly turned her around and held her body to his.
“I will never let you go.” He said and then he kissed her. She thought about resisting but she could feel the strength in his arms and passion in his lips; she knew he meant it.
What was once fear was now replaced with pure adrenaline and joy.
She pulled back from the kiss and whispered, “I love you, Clark” into his chest as she hugged him tightly.
“I love you too, Lois.”, He replied smiling as he leaned down and kissed the top of her head.
