The continents were drifting
as they were splitting
apart; they lost their spark.
They'd depart, no final remark.
The first dance
turned last goodbye,
Gotye's anthem played
like a grotesque high.
Painful to the soul
but not blind to the eye,
how well it fit
their inevitable split.

That dress of white
was now fading to black
from a single match;
that last spark fighting back.

Her heart was sinking now
beneath the Ionian Sea.
Not like Mrs. Dawson's,
this heart was real, you see.
Though as blue as the necklace
would it slowly turn,
gone was it's chance at life,
love's lesson she had to learn.

That dress of white
was now fading to black
from a single match;
that last spark fighting back.

The continents were drifting
as they were splitting
apart; they lost their spark.
They'd depart, no final remark.
The first dance
turned last goodbye,
Gotye's anthem played
like a grotesque high.
Painful to the soul
but not blind to the eye,
how well it fit
their inevitable split.
