It was only a boy I feel in love with. It took only a boy to change my opinion of life. Only a boy...he did so much.

This is completely fiction, but still...I connect to it in many ways. No, I have never been in love. So for the moment, this is my perception of love.

Your name was Robbie. You were only a boy…innocent, playful. Only a boy… but still as I sat beside you in the small wooden canoe I felt light, airless, like nothing could ever go wrong. The world was mine for the taking.

Effortlessly we glided over the water, eyes locked in a never-ending embrace. Afraid if we looked away we would wake-up from this perfect fantasy we were living. Afraid to wake-up, we took no chances.

Your green eyes sparkled from the perfect sun. My brown eyes danced with the light breezy wind. It seemed we were meant to be.

You looked even more beautiful than the golden setting sun, the white water lilies and proud handsome swan. You looked more beautiful than life itself, still you were only a boy…

We paddled away from all the lies, all the truths, fantasies, their disguise. With each other we would never need more. You were my love, my reason for life, what life had become. You made me see the real reason for life, while you were only a boy…

Think of what the future still has in store, when you are no longer only a boy.

Love, Cicely
