There is a war raging—

Tumultuous waves of wrath

Which spewed from callous words

Ill placed and ill-advised.

Such a war leaves mothers screaming

As bandaged babies come back in clumps

Of lifeless limbs—so crimson

It’s hard to tell where one ends

And another begins.

Still the angered fathers of fallen sons,

Place guns in the hands of a new child

Too young to knowwhat a trigger is

And what a trigger does.

And the young boy pulls the metal death latch,

Blows off the head of some other 18 year old,

Then years later, turns the gun on himself.
Because there’s a war raging—and it keeps raging.
