"'He promised.' I cried out. I was
shaking terribly, involuntarily. I just couldn’t
help it."
For Mariana, there is no legitimately good reason for her to be
happy, to try, to not hurt herself.

Since her father died in a car crash five years ago, life for
her and her mom has been a downward spiral. Her mother started
partying, staying out late, coming home drunk with a different
guy every week.

It isn't long before Mariana turns to self harm. For her,
physical pain hurts less than the pain she feels inside. Alone
and desperate, she begins to consider seriously ending her life.

Until she meets Sheila a fellow class-skipper as herself in the
girls restroom at school. Sheila has her own secrets and
problems, that has also led to self harm. Mariana also meets
Ethan, Sheila's older brother, and if only Mariana will let
it, a romance might just blossom.

With Sheila and Ethan entering her life and making things more
bearable, the urge to end her own life becomes less pressing, but
doesn't disappear. Can Ethan save her? Can he save his
sister as well?
