A midnight inspiration

I watch the opportunities

pass me by

too scared to take the chance

fearin’ the fall

fearin’ the possibilities

there’s always an

excuse

tellin’ me I’m right

justifyin’ the injustice

messages from Fear.

I used to accept ‘em

used to cherish ‘em

but as the dawn began to break

I saw what I was missin’

saw what I lost

what I was losin’

no use cryin’

but the tears ran anyway

there’s nothin’ left for me

I can’t get control

it’s been taken away

stolen.

I wanna break the pattern

finally get some sunshine

but I’ve got no control

I can only watch as I

lose

miss

the bits and pieces of life

I walk away

hopin’ to forget

knowin’ I won’t

‘cause they’re precious

those little moments

that elapse and fade

I imagine what they were like

the excuses tell me

that’s all I need

‘cause it’s without risk

I spend my days dreamin’ ‘bout

those possibilities

thinkin’ ‘bout why I missed ‘em

why I watched ‘em pass

Fear says

nothin’s worth the damage

worth the pain

worth the tears

worth the heartbreak

worth the risk.

So I’ll keep dreamin’

keep rememberin’

keep cryin’

keep watchin’

keep doin’ nothin’ at all

because that’s all

without risk.

A great poem. But then life without a risks can't be fulfilling.

Just to make sure, was it "To scared" or "Too scared"?

Ah yes. It should be "too scared" thank you for catching that. Glad you liked the poem.
