The world is melting
and my eyes are wide
No sense of slumber
My eyes will not hide

A bend of numerous days
All of which have washed away
Have lead me to this sleepless place
Where insomnia reigns over every face

Sleep is not a visitor of mine
The darkness won't embrace me
My eyelids refuse to surrender to time
Yet long to be set free

I'm being held captive by my very own head
That taunts me vigorously with the thought of bed

The deprivation makes me desperate
Perhaps I'll try some meds
Something strong to seduce my brain
yet also soft to console my head

I swallow the pills
and await the effect
Tell sleep to come and get me
I've casted my vote
I've made my elect
and please tell it to hurry

I long for the liberating consumption of black
A simple normality that I somehow lack

But wait....

There's an amazing feeling
That is starting to peak
My eyes feel heavy
My knees feel weak

The world is darkened
and my eyes are cracked
A sense of somnolence
Compelled by black

Here the climax comes
and it shines so ever bright
I've waited for ages to say this
"I bid you all goodnight"
