Had it been so long

Since I saw her face

I can't stand this,

This uncongenial state

-

I miss the times

when I embraced her close

I could taste her breath

and how her eyes froze

-

Locked in mine

leeping far into her heart

for I feel

this is only the start

-

We had our times

Of good and bad

I can only see

what we had

-

Now I am old

weak and dull

I had made a promise

to hold her soul

-

Once on a tree

far from my home

where the woodpeckers pecked

and the bumble bee's flown

-

I carved her name

and my own

for ever and ever

and never alone

-

She broke my promise

may years back

Her ash remains

In a small little sack

-

And still in my heart

Her key remains

for she left the world

with my heart --in her hands.
