so this is something that i wrote for a contest that is being hosted by Melissa Alburney and it is for her #2 photo and I really hope that you like it!

Rose Weasley walked through the forest. Rain poured on her like there was no tomorrow. She was cold, hungry, and tired. She had ran in here after she asked them to talk to her about letting her boyfriend come over so that they could meet him. After the fight with her father, she ran out of the house only a knee long poka-dotted dress. Not only did she go out in the night being undressed for the occasion, but she also forgot her wand in her room so he couldn't defend or help others to find her. She was stuck and lost in the rain alone. If she knew that she would be stuck in the place that she was, she never would've entered the forest, but go walking down the road instead so that she could easily walk back home.

Not only that, but she was stumbling down the pathway between the trees. Earlier, she fell and she was sure that she twisted her ankle. She knew that she should let it rest, but she was wanting to find the road, or at least the end of the forest more than tending her wound. When she could barely see through her eyes because of the water, she knew that there was no use to trying to find her way out. She had to somehow get warm in the t-shirt and shorts that she was wearing. The rain was making her too cold for comfort.

So, she went under a tree and sat in the mud. She didn't care if she got wet and muddy because she already was from when she first fell down in the mud. She leaned against the tree and finally felt dry from the rain except for a couple of drops that made it past the pine needles. Rose hoped that lightning wouldn't strike her shelter or else she could be dead. Another thing that she hoped for was that in the morning, it wouldn't be raining anymore so that she could make it home easier.

Looking through the forest rows, she could see the rain poring down. Rose sighed and felt the tears running from her eyes and down her cheeks. Though she was angry at her father and mother, she still regretted what she said to them before. She could remember how everything had gone down in the kitchen of her home. She was only glad that her brother wasn't there to overhear anything, though he already knew everything that was going on. Hugo was at their Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny's house for the weekend. She closed her eyes as the memories appeared in her eyes.

"Mom? Dad can I talk to you?" Rose asked as she walked into the livingroom and her mother turned off the television that they were watching.
"Of course sweety. You can talk to us about anything." Mrs. Weasley told her daughter as she moved down on the sofa so that her daughter could sit between her parents.

After a large sigh, Rose interlocked her fingers on her lap and she looked down at her shoes, her long, fire red hair running over her shoulders and into her face. Her wavy curls shaped Rose's face as she gave a deep sigh. She felt her father's arm wrap around her shoulders and she tried to find the words that she needed to say.
"Um...mom, dad, can I ask you something?" Rose asked them.
"Of course Rosie." Mr. Weasley answered, even though she was sixteen and was about to go into her sixth year at Hogwarts he still called his daughter that.
"Well...umm. At Hogwarts I have been seeing someone and we have been together for almost a year. I already met his parents and he's been asking to meet you two personally for a while and now that it is summer, I thought that it would be a good time now." Rose explained.
"Of course!" Mrs. Weasley agreed.
"I didn't know that you were dating anyone." Mr. Weasley said as he unwrapped the arm around his daughter.
"Well...yeah. I mean, I'm getting older and both of us really, really like each other." Rose answered.

After looking up, she saw the puzzled look on both of her parents faces. Her mother began to rub Rose's shoulders as she asked, "why are we just hearing this now Rosie? Why didn't you tell us that you were dating someone before?"
"Well...I didn't know if you and dad would approve of him." Rose admitted.

Mrs. Weasley let go of her daughter and her husband asked Rose, "Who are you dating Rose?"

After a deep sigh, Rose pulled her hair that was in her face behind her ear and said, "It's Scorpius Malfoy."

Mrs. Weasley let out a large sigh of relief and gave her daughter a smile before she took her Rose's hand and said, "don't scare me Rosie! I thought that you were going to say someone that was out of Hogwarts already and if not a professor! Don't scare me like that! Of course that we can have him over for dinner. Right, Ron?"

With a smile on her face, Rose looked at her father. Seeing his face though made her smile fade as well as make her hand slip out of her mother's. Mr. Weasley was staring at his daughter, his eyes slowly filling with anger. This was exactly what Rose was worried about. She knew that her mother would understand and not over exaggerate the situation, but her father had loathed the Malfoy family ever since he went to school with Scorpius's father, Draco. Even though Rose knew that Draco had hurt her mother a lot more than her father, it was Mr. Weasley who couldn't get over what happened in his six years at Hogwarts like his wife did.

Mrs. Weasley made a frown and said, "now Ron. Don't get all upset."
"Please dad? This is why I am telling you this now and not a year ago. I knew that you would get all upset." Rose said.
"Rose, how could you get with him? He's evil. An evil Slytherin just like his father and his grandfather." Mr. Weasley said.

Rose got to her feet to look her father in the eyes.
"No he isn't! You've never even met him and you've barely heard anything about him! Just because he is in Slytherin, that doesn't mean that he is evil! You need to get to know a person before you can judge them!" Rose yelled at him.
"Don't you yell at me. I am your father!" Mr. Weasley said and Mrs. Weasley took her husband's hand to try and get him to calm down.
"I don't care! This is exactly why I couldn't tell you before! I was afraid to tell you because whenever I tell you something that you don't like, you just get a frown and though you say that's fine, I can see the hint of disappointment in your eyes and it makes me fell like I am the most horrible person in the world. I'm scared of you because you make me feel like that. You never understand, do you?! I'm just a big disappointment to you aren't I? First, I get into Ravenclaw instead of Gryffindor so I wasn't in the house that you approved of! Second, I decide to drop some classes that you really liked when you went to Hogwarts. Then you find out that I do not have an interest into Quidditch. Then, I don't become a Prefect and now, I am dating the son of a man that you still can't get over though mom has!" Rose yelled, tears coming into her eyes.
"Never have you been a disappointment Rosie." Mrs. Weasley said in a soft voice.
"I will not be talked to like that!" Mr. Weasley said.
"I bet that you wish that I was just like Hugo. A Gryffindor who's bound to become a Prefect who is also Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team." Rose yelled, her tears covering her face.
"No. Rosie." Mrs. Weasley said.

Rose watched as her mother got to her feet and began walking to her. Rose took a step back from Mrs. Weasley's open arms that came to give her comfort and she turned so that she could glare at her father.
"Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy have never had a problem from me! I had dinner with them and met them in person months and months ago. They've excepted me in their family already and for some strange reason you, dad, can't get over what happened all of those years ago! Draco is nice to me. He's nice to all of Scorpius's friends as well as mine!" Rose bellowed.

Her father just stared at her before saying, "I don't care how much they like you. Once a Malfoy, always a Malfoy."
"RONALD!" Mrs. Weasley yelled.
"Do you even hear yourself dad!" Rose demanded, "you are being completely ridiculous! James, Albus, Hugo, Lily, and Fred know about us dating and they took it a lot better than this!"

After shaking her head, Rose yelled at her father, "You don't even care that I am happy! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!"

And that was when she ran out of the room, down the hallway, and out the front door after she grabbed her shoes that were also at the front door. Before she slammed the door, Rose could hear her mother yelling behind her, begging that she would come back.

Rose opened her eyes and stared at the puddles in the mud that were starting to form. She hugged herself for warmth and when realizing that she still wasn't too warm, she got into the fetal position and laid her head on her legs. She gave a deep sigh. Though she was cold, she was also very tired. She hadn't gotten much sleep last night as well because she was up all night worrying about what her parents would say about her relationship between her and Scorpius. Also she was up trying to put her thoughts into words about how she should explain to them as well.

Though she knew that she could freeze to death, she knew that she had to get some sleep anyway. At least she was out of the cold rain and she would be able to get drier and warmer. The cool air might keep her cold though, so she knew that the instant that she knew that the rain had stopped that she would have to try and find her way through the forest again. She figured that if she kept going straight that she would find her way out sometime or another.

So, Rose closed her eyes and let herself fall into the darkness of sleep.

*

"Rose?!" there was a soft whisper in her ears, "Rose?!"

After a groan, Rose opened her eyes. She was alone still, but she was in a different position then she remembered begin in when she went to sleep in the first place. This time, her legs were spread out in front of her and her head was leaning against the tree trunk and Rose wondered how she moved into a dramatically different position like this without falling over. After looking around, she saw that the sun was shining and most of the puddles on the ground were beginning to dry up. The new warm weather didn't help that she had a headache and that she still felt tired and weak.

Another thing that Rose noticed was that people were calling her name. They were far away, but the yells were clear. She could recognize the voices of her parents, some aunts and uncles, and cousins. Also, the one that seemed to be the closest voice to her was a voice that she was sure that she had heard before, but not in the state that it was in. The familiar voice seemed to be shaken and worried.

She snapped up to her feet no matter how much her one ankle hurt. Stumbling out of underneath the tree and into the mud. Her shoes were still wet, but her clothes were damp and almost close to being dry completely.
"ROSE!" she heard the close voice yell, "ROSIE!"

Listening closely, Rose realized that the voice was only a couple of rows down from her. She smiled and knew for sure who was making the yells.
"ROSE!" the male voice rang.
"SCORPIUS?!" Rose yelled back.
"ROSE! ROSIE IS THAT YOU?!" she heard him yell back.
"YES! I'M OVER HEAR!" Rose yelled back and stumbled around to make sure she was in the middle of the rows, the grass shining in the light as well.
"STAY WHERE YOU ARE! I'LL FIND YOU!" Scorpius yelled back.

Though it only lasted for a couple of moments, Rose waited impatiently for him to come along the row that she was in. Looking in front of her for Scorpius, Rose jumped a little when she heard him call her name, except it wasn't as loudly. She turned around and saw Scorpius running to her, only wearing a pair of pants and shoes. She began to run as fast as she could with an ankle screaming at her that it hurt so she had to shuffle for most of it to try and put most of her weight on her good ankle, which caused her to be slow, but Scorpius met her anyway.

When he was close enough, Rose used all of her might to jump on Scorpius and he held her up, both arms hooking them under her legs. Rose's arms wrapped around his neck and she crushed her lips onto his. Rose loved and thought that her heart would burst before they finally stopped to take some air. Being held up still, Rose looked into Scorpius's relieved eyes to see her reflection. She had mud all over her face and hair and she sighed.
"Are you okay?" Scorpius demanded.
"I just have a headache and a sprained ankle. I might get a cold sometime too." Rose answered.

Scorpius then hugged her closer and she laid her head on his shoulder.
"I'm too relieved to get angry at you." Scorpius sighed, "I was so worried."
"Why did you come here?" Rose asked.
"Your mother sent an owl to our house this morning addressed to me. She said that you ran out last night and haven't been seen since. When I came here, the entire family was here. Most were looking in the forest while others looked along the roads just in case you took shelter there." Scorpius answered and the both of them looked at each other again, "It's why I am only wearing pants. My father woke me up to tell me and that's all I got dressed in before I came."
"Oh no. How angry are my parents?" Rose asked.
"A lot. They are almost as angry as when my parents found out that during potions class that I had somehow managed to permanently dye my hair black a couple of months ago." Scorpius said, "but they are more worried about you."
"I'm sorry. I meant to get back, but I got lost." Rose admitted, "You said that you were looking for me since this morning. What time is it now?"
"The last time I checked, it was almost one." Scorpius answered.

Scorpius kissed my hair.
"I'm surprised that my father let you come. That was why I left last night." Rose commented.
"Her mother thought that you still may be hiding and that if you knew that I was here then you would come out." Scorpius answered, "but we better get you back. They still think that you are hidden. They'll be so relieved when they know that you are alive and okay, well except your ankle."

Rose nodded and then, Scorpius carefully moved her into a different position so that he held her like a baby. She laid her head on his chest and sighed, "I can walk."
"Oh please. Don't worry. You need to stay off your ankle or it will get worst." Scorpius answered, "you're really cold Rose."
"I am?" Rose asked.
"Yeah. You need to warm up." Scorpius said.

For the rest of the way, Rose could hear her family calling for her. Scorpius was silent and Rose kept her eyes in front of her as Scorpius walked through the rows of trees in the forest. Soon, she saw the end and could see the faint outlines of someone pacing.
"I FOUND HER!" Scorpius called.
"You found her?" Rose recognized her mother's voice, even in that state of fear.
"Yeah!" Scorpius promised.

When they finally got out of the break of the trees, Rose saw her parents running to her, her parents still in the clothes that they were in last night. Rose could see the bags under her parents eyes and how pale they were. Her mother was in tears and Scorpius let Mr. Weasley take his daughter into his arms like Scorpius did. Then Mrs. Weasley wrapped her arms around both of them. Though Rose didn't want to talk to her dad, she knew that she couldn't make anything worst for her mother.
"Rosie." was all Mrs. Weasley could say, "we were so worried."
"I'll tell the others that she's here. She told me that she got lost. Also, she has a broken ankle." Scorpius informed them.
"Thank you." Mrs. Weasley said to him.

Scorpius just nodded curtly then ran off to get the others. Mrs. Weasley let go of her husband and he then walked his daughter into the house. After Mrs. Weasley followed them upstairs, she told her husband, "I'll give her a bath, get her clean and then we'll put her in bed."

Mr. Weasley nodded in agreement and took her into the washroom where he set Rose on the toilet seat. Immediately, Mrs. Weasley turned on the hot water in the bathtub and said to her husband after they kissed, "I'll bring her out when she is done. Do you want to start making her something to eat."

After nodding, Mr. Weasley quickly moved to his daughter, kissed her muddy cheek and then left the room, shutting the door behind him.

Mrs. Weasley then turned to her daughter and gave a deep sigh.
"Rose Weasley don't you ever do that again." she said in a serious voice.
"I'm sorry mom. I got lost and I couldn't find my way back in the rain so I thought that it was better if I stayed where I was in case someone came looking for me so I took shelter under a tree. I woke up when Scorpius was a couple of rows away from me." Rose said.

Mrs. Weasley then began to help her daughter out of her muddy dress and she also grabbed a plastic container from under the sink to use to help was her daughter's body and hair.
"Just please don't do that again. You father and I were worried sick about you. When you hadn't came back by midnight when it started to rain, I knew that something was wrong." Mrs. Weasley said as she turned off the water in the bath tub and helped her daughter into it.

Rose was already starting to feel relaxed in the warm water that came up to her neck as she lied down comfortably before her mother sat beside the tub and began to take out the soap to help take off the mud on her daughter's body. Rose watched as her mother began to gently scrub the bar of soap on Rose's arms.
"Get some sleep Rosie. You need it." Mrs. Weasley told her daughter after she saw Rose's eyes turning into tiny slits, "You'll be in your bed when you wake up okay."

Rose nodded ever so slightly and let herself fall into the sleep that she needed.

*

When Rose began to wake up, she could feel the soft and warm sheets of her bed under and on top of her. In her hand, she felt a warm one and she could feel the comforts of her favourite pajamas that were on her. Also, she felt something around her ankle that didn't seem to hurt anymore.

She moved her head a little before opening her eyes. In the soft light of the room, Rose looked around and saw her father smiling weakly down at her. He kissed Rose's hand as he held it and said in a calm and gentle voice, "Hi Rosie. Are you feeling any better?"
"Yeah." Rose whispered, finding her voice again.
"That's good." Mr. Weasley said.

Rose looked around and saw that she was in the comforts of her own room. Only the lamp on her dresser was on as it let a soft light into the room. When she looked out her window, she saw that it was now dark outside.
"What time is it?" Rose asked.
"Around nine o'clock." Mr. Weasley answered.
"I slept for a long time then." Rose commented.
"It's okay. You needed it." Mr. Weasley told his daughter.

After that, there was a long and awkward silence. Though Rose looked around at her room, she knew that her father's eyes were still on her. Even with everything that happened, she still didn't want to discuss all of the matters with her father.
"Rosie, honey can you look at me please?" Mr. Weasley asked his daughter in a soft, calm voice.

Rose did so and she looked at her father and saw that there was now some colour in his cheeks since the last time that she saw him.
"I'm so, so, so, so sorry that I yelled of you. You don't know how sorry I am. I never should've yelled at you and I should've took the news a lot better than I did. You're right. I was being completely ridiculous." Mr. Weasley told her, "And you're right about how I can't get over things. Maybe your mother has, but I haven't and maybe I should. Even if I can't, I never should've out that onto our shoulders and kept you from making good decisions and I am so sorry that I even tried. You don't know how sorry I am."

Rose could see the tears starting to form in her father's eyes. She squeezed his hand and said, "thanks dad."
"And another thing that I want you to get into your head Rosie is that never in my life have I ever been disappointed in you. When I started to think about it, I guess that it was because my baby girl was growing up. I couldn't make those class decisions for you and I knew that you were making choices about how you didn't want to play Quidditch because that was what you decided on your own. You were becoming independent. And the reason why I looked or seemed disappointed when you didn't get into Gryffindor or become a Prefect was that because I knew that in both of those things, they weren't going to get a special thing like you." Mr. Weasley told his daughter and Rose could start to feel the tears roll down her cheeks too, "Rosie you could be in Slytherin and I would still love you. I will always love you Rosie. That will never change and if you think any different then I want you to talk to me so that I can explain myself because I never want you to fear me again."

Rose nodded and with her free hands, she wiped her tears away and said, "I'm sorry if you feel that way."
"No Rosie. I'm sorry." Mr. Weasley said as he leaned over his daughter and kissed her forehead.
"What if I failed all of my classes?" Rose asked to make a joke, "will you still love me then?"

Her father laughed and said, "at that I will be a little bit disappointed, but I will still love you."

After a small laughter between them, there was another silence. Mr. Weasley began to wipe the tears from his face with his free hand. Rose looked at him before he said to end the silence, "you must be hungry. There's soup and crackers downstairs if you want some."
"Please?" Rose asked him.

Mr. Weasley nodded and he kissed her hand one more time before he left the room. In the silence, Rose sighed. Maybe she could forgive her father this one time.
