This is going to be part of a series of short stories/poems/comics of the love story between the moon and the night sky. I wrote this hoping my night sky will turn to this at bad times.

Though the birds of paradise

Take flight only in daylight,

The world is awake when the sun is,

And every culture seem to adore

That brilliant light it seems

Mine is not the lesser light

My body holds whole galaxies

Mortals view it as clusters of diamonds

Forever suspended in space

But it is so much more

The bleak blackness of space is my canvas

of which I painted

Nebulas of blues, purples, and greens

I sewn the constellations together

and I have grown the suns

Though my stars may not seem to hold a candle

to the brilliance of the sun

The bright rays of it

Shrivels flora,

Scorches deserts,

 and wilts flesh

In the absence of that light,

The planets will remain

The moons will still be there

I will remain

I was there at the beginning

And I will see the end

My body holds more mysteries than the sea

My stars may fade and die

Ever so slowly

It does not effect me as a whole

The planets around me may crumple or implode

or be swallowed in my voids

This may leave decayed remenants of those worlds

and those remains may be my scars to bear

but I will still be here

In the dark, cold vastness of eternity

I will remember that darkness is a necessity

for it will let my stars shine so bright

for billions to see for eons.

I will remember that silence is my ally

for I could listen to the humming of the other bodies around me

I will be reminded that I am worthy of admiration

as mortals marvel at the displays

that I so carefully weave together for them

So though life is fleeting

and my heart will break

as my stars fade

as the planets die

I will still see the end
