I sat me down, in my favourite chair.
The light dimmed low, as lonesome care
My watery eyes, fought desperate sleep
Eventually I succumbed to it.
In dream I saw a twinkling light
A woman dark, her face glowed bright
She beckoned to me, motioned slow
Though I resisted, I had to go
A story she did tell to me
Of love, of life, what used to be
How once she lived in the house I own
How no one came and she cried alone
She used to sing and sang her tune
Beneath the twilight fairy moon
She loved and lost, then had no will
To continue her life, through shame or guilt
This house she said has secrets, deep
As generations passed on in sleep
Both young and old were on their own
The spirits of the house took them home
I tried to wake, but that was not to be
For she was the spirit who came for me!
