I heard a person once tell me that, Icarus is the one person they truly looked up to, because, unlike most people, he chose to live his dreams and failed, instead of dying content with the reality he had been given. I dedicate this, to the dreamer, to the Icarus in us all; us who, not only exist and survive, but actually choose to live.

Breathe in the pain
and exhale the awakening of endurance.
Stand sure in yourself,
embrace the struggle
and be humbled by your sacrifice.
Act without thinking twice
Your chance is now
And it only comes once.

This, my friend, is not advice,
just the passing thoughts of a mind
that’s grown wise over time
from starring straight into the sun
asking for nothing but a touch.

You told the story well and beautifully. I was always a fan of Greek and Roman mythology. This was one of the better stories. I wrote a poem entitle Pandora and put it on my site. People flocked to it. Ancient history still fascinates people.
Great write.

=0) I've been reading ancient mythology ever since i was a kid. It's always fascinated me and fueled my imagination in ways that every few other things ever have.
Icarus stands out for me because of his willingness to dare to reach for his dreams instead of accepting the realities that others had given him.
I'm super glad you like!

That was fascinating, I really liked what you said in your description, too. But that's just a side note. Ha. The poem is the important part. I'm a huge fan of mythology so I was instantly attracted to this poem and I adored it. Everything flowed nicely with an interesting spin. Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed reading.
