I wish I could blame it on the alcohol,
The way that I’m feeling,
But I’ve tried as a whole
To hold back these feelings.
It’s hard to admit,
That we’ve been tight for years,
Almost like siblings,
Now I’m standing here
Thinking about you
At eleven o’ clock in the evening,
Hoping that this just might
Blow over and our friendship will be alright.
Believe me I’ve tried to escape these thoughts,
But it seems I’m caught in them.
Scared that if you’d ever see them
It’d corrupt the deep relationship we’ve seeded.
You can’t see me,
Or that my hearts bleeding.
It doesn’t seem real
That you’re what I’m needing.
I just wish it weren’t true,
But it seems that it is.
I wish your pains didn’t bring a tear to my eyes,
Or the look on your face strip my disguises.
I wish I could still lie (to myself)
But I can’t,
And I don’t understand,
How you ended up holding my being
Swimming aimlessly in the palm of your hand.
Funny,
You don’t even notice…
That my every word
Seeks to pave your way with roses.
I care too much,
I think that’s my problem.
I see you don’t feel such
And that hurts me oddly.
But you don’t see that either,
Like when you say you need me
But you can’t really see me clearly
Like the air you're breathing.
I’m so sorry dear friend,
And I pray you never read this,
Because the day that you do
I fear it’ll mark the day our life as friends deceases.
The bitter-sweet solitude
Of the absence of your emotions lives with me.
Desolation will kiss me,
‘Cause there's too much to lose
 And it’s risky.
