It’s like they have a mind of their own

Forcing themselves shut

Rendering me into darkness

There is fading mumbling in the background, a lullaby

Tears form in my eyes, my mouth snaps shut

My head drops slightly, weightless

I fight them seizing control

I feel I have won battled the enchanting darkness

I feel a tap then another

They fly open and I stare at an angry teacher

“Why are you sleeping in class”

I can only stare dumbly, then instinctively

“I thought I won”

These things, eyelids, sleep, they are alpha.
