I saw you standing there
I saw you standing there
Thin blanket of hair
Shielding a timid moonface
That flashed seven shades of crimson
When I smiled
But like a guppy confronting a shark’s toothy grin
You retreated
You cringed away as if
You weren’t human too
But I approached you still
With slow and murmured steps
While other‘s parted like the red sea
Mouths stupidly hung open
Amazed at my daring to befriend
The leper, the alien, the weirdo
But seeing you
Suddenly in awe
With eyes that became as rounds as orbs
Inexorably drew me closer
I stretched by hand and miraculously you moved
Out of the shadows
Towards me
Like a flower drawing towards light
