Look at the people that are suffering;
Watch the lives being lost.
And still we hide with idealism,
Ignorant to the costs.

There’s got to be more to music,
More to life, because it isn’t fun.
Stop this impotence and think:
Look at what we’ve done.

I see her lay there, crying,
Sobbing in her bed,
As her family stays behind
And figures haunt her head.

We shut the goddamned paper,
Can’t bear to watch the news,
Can’t see what humanity’s become
We’d rather see ‘pretty’ views:

Not the slaughter and the death,
Not the destruction where we turn.
Even Midas’ hand couldn’t fix us as
We still refuse to learn.

Stuck in obliviousness,
We lie in bliss,
Close our eyes,
Won’t put a stop to this.

Mother tucks you in at night,
Father kisses your head,
As someone sobs,
And you dream

And Ignore,

And shut off,

And close,

And turn away,

And kill,
And kill,
And kill,

Oblivious,

Pristine,

Emptying yourself,
Emptying us,

Because it isn’t fun!
This is what you’ve done.
