Tears of Regret

Martha Hume

As I stand here starring out to sea I recall the tears I’ve shed because of you. The first tears I shed were the ones when I learned you were a fraud Then were the tears I shed when I was confronted with the truth you’re a felon . The tears I shed when I wrongly chose between my home of seventeen years were the hardest to over come .

When I followed your directive to destroy , to trade, sell, or in some other way dispose of the memories I had of my first husband . For thirty two years was his Princess and he was my knight in shinning armor. I traded an eternal love for an eternity with a man without love.

You and your mistresses invaded my home. Affair after affair I kept my tearful silence. Homes lost and happiness denied I endured many injustices for the impossible .

In the name of Love, for love I’ve killed. For love I’ve endured a living death . For love I will unite my flesh with the tears I’ve cried. In death may I find peace . May I find forgiveness and the eternal love that was mine.
