through the faint screams and laughs of playing children, the construction bellows and weeps
waiting for it to be time, we think “oh to be young again” and reminisce over lost memories
a sparrow hops through the gray and green mess and a calm wind flows to ignite rest
looking to my left, an old woman struggles to sit and i appreciate the year
a parent walks by with her son and he stares at my bench, finally waving
he let out one of the biggest smiles ever when i returned it, and so did i
