I look to the blackened, crying sky. My blue eyes are the only reminder. Of the color that once took the place of the angry clouds. Of the beauty that even the yellow sun could not blur out. The vast, open, wonder that captivated us all. Now covered by the grey. It bleeds water on to the green, broken, dyeing land. Masking footsteps, chalk, movement from the planet. Here in this quiet, empty, broken home. I find comfort in the chaos of the storm. Here in this closed, lonely, heart. I bleed red that flows through this tired body. In this mind I remember words, smiles, moments of you. Things that only this heart, body, and mind have access to. Tears, sobs, sadness of this loss of you? Emotions that a normal human has are swept away at moments like these. The wait that I must endure. Yes I wait for a letter, a call, or a knock on the door. Just to know if you will return. That has passed and now I know.

When the color returns tomorrow. This hurt will fade away. With the darkened, bleeding, angry clouds. The sun will try to again block the blue. The footsteps, chalk, movement will return. This empty, lifeless, broken home. Will shine with happiness. My blue eyes will look upon your green eyes. As you walk through the door in your uniform. These ears will hear the sound of your metal tags. You will returned to me safe. From the hate, fear filled, war. Once again I will find your arms around me. Once again I will feel safe and weightless. There is where I know I will be okay without the storm. The happy blue sky will bring new memories. With you I need nothing. With you I am whole. With you I am... me.

To the women and men

whose

husbands or wives

are deployed.

Be strong and remember

you are not alone.
