"Ugh! What a time to get a bladder infection," Julie groaned, "It's my damn birthday, and I've been up all night peeing!"

Her husband flicked on the lights a few minutes later. "Come on, get up sleepyhead. It's your special day," he grinned. "Happy 26th birthday."

She pulled the covers over her head. "Go away, Ron. I'm too tired."

He shrugged. "I guess that I'll have to give you your gift, now."

Julie heard footsteps plodding down the hallway. A few seconds later, she was greeted with sloppy puppy kisses. "How adorable." Her eyes filled with tears.

"There's something unusual about that dog," Julie thought to herself, "His eyes glow red. He has gotten incredibly huge, and every time he walks, I swear I hear chains clanking behind him.

Several months later, Julie found out that she had stage 4 cervical cancer. "You knew the whole time, didn't you?!" She slapped her husband.

Her husband pulled her aside after one of her treatments. "Look, I didn't know how to tell you, especially on your birthday. I love you. I nearly drained my 401K to purchase that dog, in preparation for your funeral."

"What kind of monster are you? You must want me to die."

Ron wiped away a tear. "No, you don't understand! This is a holy corpse-eating dog. It's considered an honor to be consumed by one of these creatures."
