The love letter had every intention of finding its way to you.
Written by hands of an insomniac into the wee hours of sunrise.
The heart unraveling onto the pages likes spools of unworn silk.
With the waking dawn, oceans of admiration have been unearthed.

White pages bleeding with black ink lay out to dry.
While sleepy eyes threatening to close to a dream.
The words were laid out faithful, like a hand on a Bible sworn to tell the truth.
The insomniac folded its newborn child of love and devotion,
A love letter concealed in an envelope that bared his name.

The love letter left in your coat pocket,
As the courage of handing it to you could not be met.
The anxious silence in waiting your approval felt like an eternity forgotten.
Hours became days as days turned into stale weeks stretched out over a weary heart.

The love letter reached your pockets, but never your heart.
Your eyes gazed over the words born at the birth of a new day.
A new day you did not stay long enough in to greet.
The love letter was meant for the depths of your heart,
But now like the insomniac's dream that lies rejected,
The love letter lies both abandoned and forgotten in the depths of your pocket.
