Late at night when I can't sleep I write all kinds of stuff. I have a file cabinet full of papers. Here is a poem I wrote recently. It has a survivor theme. But it is upbeat. I never know what is going to come out of my soul late at night.

I feel the path beneath my feet

The wind blows right past the tears on my face

The past eases it's weight on my mind

The future is there, but unseen and hard to define

I have no choice, for this one moment in time

I walk the walk of grace.

You might be thinking, it ain't much

But all I got is what is the great unseen

A faith in faith, a faith in me

I guess I'll never know

How it came to live here inside me

Just another one of life's mysteries

So for just this one moment in time

I'll just accept that grace walks with me.

Some say I just wander along

With little to no direction at all

They have yet to see

The invisible light that guides me

It hardly matters to me at all

The circle of life is

The beginning, the middle, the end

So I'll lay my head to rest

Knowing that with grace, I've given it my best.
