(Maddi M.)

She falls asleep every night

Hoping the weight on her shoulders would be lifted

Praying that one day she'd feel light

As she fell asleep, she shifted

By sunrise, she awoke

She couldn't catch her breahe

Her lungs filled with smoke

Never before was she afraid, but now she feared death

Her memory fogged

Her vision clouded

She couldn't remmber how to escape; all she could feel was how she was fagged

She knew she was alone, but the room still felt crowded

Before she wanted to go, she wanted to die, to feel lighter than air.

She wanted to at least write a note to her family to please take care
