I wrote this poem after my first week of college. It helped me to put down on paper what i was feeling at the time. I felt somewhat lost but also knowing where i was. It was a small wall i had to get over and this poem helped me do that.

A foot at a time,

Into the world,

Standing half bent,

I've not grown enough yet,

It’s something not to fear,

But something not to chase,

The world is everything,

But a race.

This feels like I'm floating,

It’s not real at all,

My reality feels different,

I'm not about to fall,

But I feel like I'm floating

In dusty air,

Where time tells itself,

And there’s time to spare.

In front of me is hazy,

I can’t see where I stand,

If it’s steady earth,

Or sinking sand,

Will my breathe give me the best,

Or end with the crush of my chest,

A mouth full of stones,

And a heart full of plans,

Fingertips still gripping,

To the smallest strands.
