The piercing sound of a siren cuts through the black silence of the night. Stars dance across the moon lighten sky, as the world buzzes in a panic below. The sirens can be heard getting closer to the nearby cliff. There the ocean spits a storm of rage. The waters curl and bend in a white hiss, to slam across the cliff edges. People surround the shore, surrounding around one person. A man squats in the middle, holding a thing in his arms. It’s not a thing, but a young girl, only the age of thirteen. Her auburn hair, flowed around the pale edges of her cheeks. Her eyes are glued shut, hiding a deep shade of green in their irises. She is small for her age, and she is only but a Skelton, with a bag of skin sticking to it. Her body is bruised from the bickering of her family, and her cheeks dirty from the dirt balls of bully’s.  She is only covered in a large green tee shirt, which went to her lower thighs. People murmur around, wondering if she is ok. The water still hisses, disappointed she was not floating in their depths.

The sirens come to a sudden end. Paramedics load the girl in a white stretcher, being careful not to hurt her. Only quick, rasp breaths come from her chapped lips. The man, who had been there before, was still there for her; quickly join the paramedics in the ambulance.  They shout

“Oxygen, she’s not breathing!!”

Her short breaths soon come to a short end, and she lay silent. The paramedics soon place a thick mask over her mouth, and oxygen comes from the tubes, into her mouth.  They ask the man

“What exactly happened sir?”

The man, breathless from the shock said

“She. She ..Jumped off the cliff. She was committing suicide.”

The paramedics frowned.

“How did she survive?”

“I..I pulled her from the tide and current. She passed out before I got to shore.”

“Are you her dad?”

“No, just her gymnastics teacher.”

The ambulance was quiet, except for the sirens. The hospital was son in view. White concrete made up the building, creating rooms, and stopping for windows. It was a small hospital, only three stories.  The ambulance came to a stop, and let a squeak before going silent. Soon the paramedics jumped from the ambulance, and pulled the stretcher from the back. The girl still lay there, cold as ice, and as pale as the moon. The man, from the back and the paramadics as one said

“Bring her to Room 223!”

And so they rushed off to room 223, hoping they could save the poor girls life.

2 Hours Later

Only two people sit, or lay in room 223. The young girl and the gymnastics teacher. He sits in one of the plethora of guest chairs. The room is filled with the worst kind of sound. Silence. But the silence, is suddenly gone, when the low breathing of the girl awakens. She feels around, and then flickers her eyes open, to reveal her green irises.  She speaks, breathless

“Ugg, what happened? Where am I?”

The teacher runs to the side of the bed and said

“Oh!! Stephanie, you’re alive!”

“Mr. Ed, what are you doing here?”

He spoke quietly

“Watching you.”

She prepared herself to jump from the white hospital bed, until Mr. Ed pushed her back.

“During you’re fall, you broke your foot.”

She finally realized the bulky cast, stuck to her numb foot. She groaned. Mr. Ed said

“Stephanie, why? Why did you jump from the cliff?”

She spoke, tears pouring down her cheeks.

“I’m abused by my parents, I’m bullied by others, and nobody wants to be my friend. Nobody loves me, nobody cares. Why should I live?”

Mr. Ed sighed and said

‘Stephanie, you’re beautiful, smart and talented. You are a great gymnast, some of the best I’ve ever seen. You are amazing.”

She let one more tear come down her cheek

“Thank you, Mr. Ed.”

Mr. Ed smiled and said

“I’m going to get you safe, out that house, and out of reach of the ones who hurt you.”

Stephanie asks

“You’d save me, twice?”

Mr. Ed smiled

“Stephanie, I will always save you.”
