I was writing in the little notebook I write my poetry in, when suddenly I realized that it's filled with memories. Most of them not so good, but memories nonetheless. They're a part of me like anyone else's poetry is a part of them.

Book of Pain

Book of pain,
Please show me my memories,
Reveal my past and
Open to times now far away.
Pages turn and remind me of pain hidden away
In my mind and heart.
Records of my mistakes,
Show me the errors of my ways.

Book of pain,
Tell me stories of my hurt and tragedy.
Make me feel again.
Wound me and heal me.
Expose my secret scars.
Harm me as I remember
Times of drama and sadness
The texts spill blood.

Book of pain,
Let me read you,
Let me reminisce in glorious hurt.
Reading your contents,
As tears spill from my eyes.
Seeing steps and stages of my life,
Secrets I hide, written in plain words across the paper,
Left only to be interpreted by the reader.

Book of pain,
Please hide your words,
Flip your pages,
And shut your covers.
Keep my secrets
Like the true friend I never had.
Close to the world
And let only me see your contents.
For you see,
You are my book of pain.
