Four in the morning is upon me I fear
still can’t believe those noises I hear
The lead in my pencil has become very dull
Dear God in heaven I pray for a lull
My yards of verses may be boring that’s true
But I can’t find anything else to do
The movies outlined in the Guide tonight
are only the ones I’ve seen or dislike
My radio is on, playing music that’s pleasant
Oh, they just interrupted saying War may be evident
Weather forecast is rainy and cool,
Sports caster claims our Leaf’s team are fools
The announcer just said he’d play three in a row
and I’m hoping they’ll be the songs that I know
The words just keep coming, who cares about time
I’ll bet by now though, you’d like to kick my behind.
Good gracious it’s morning the suns coming up
guess I need a good soak in the tub
My arm is hurting and I have a stiff neck
too many hours of writing I’ll bet
These verses are written for you by the yard
so reading them shouldn’t be very hard
I do hope that you get a chuckle or two
out of these rhymes I’ve written for you
So dear readers t’is the end of my rhymes
who knows, I may try it again sometime
One other point I would like to make
Gosh I feel terrible for staying up so late!

Ah yes... haven't we all been therre at one time or another although lately, I have trouble staying awake at night. I am a morning person and am usually up by the time the clock strikes 5 am!!
My problem when I can't sleep is that I just let my mind race with thoughts and ideas and unlike you, I write nothing down unfortunately thinking I will remember in the morning! And of course, I never do!! Oh well...
Another fun and enjoyable read, Brenda.
Keep doodling!!.....Jerry

Nice hearing from you again Jerry and glad you liked my no sleep rhyme. Would you believe I had one of those nights last night? and rattled off several new rhyme stories on the computer. I looked for them today and they are gone, forgot to "Save". So maybe scraps of paper scattered all over the place isn't such a bad thing after-all. Like you I can't
remember any of it. That's comedy at it's best!. Once again
thank you for reading, commenting and taking an interest in
my work. I really do appreciate. Kindest Regards. Brenda.
That was nice! It really was and I think what is the strength of this piece is that most writers or artists of any kind can relate to it. Very simple...but because of its simplicity it is very pure. That is where it draws its value from. Purity is hard to find in writing. People put too much stock in the complex and hidden meanings in things. It is refreshing to read this, like drinking an ice cold glass of water during the dog days of summer.

Thanks for your kind comments John, rhyming is just an
amusement for me nothing more nothing less. As for the
complex and hidden meanings...these are avoided at all
cost. I'm at that stage in life where no work and plenty of
play can't possibly vex the psyche.
I'm about to embark on a project of rhymes relating to my horrible Football Sundays which is my mates favorite
pass time and my nightmere...In order to write on this
subject I'm going to have to learn everything there is
to know about Football...How funny is that? ha,ha.
Thank you for showing an interest in my silly work.
Kind Regards. Manyfacets
What do you mean you don't have the skill of a writer? I would read you any day! this was cute and something I would love to read when I have those long nights! Can I please be your fan!!!!!

You are too kind Lady Justice; I do doodle at writing,
but I'm not that good at it, have no real training
and feel uncomfortable using the title "Writer".
I'm thrilled that you did read and comment on
one of little rhymes, and I thank you so much.
I'll tell you what; I will be honored to have you
as a Fan; if you will allow me to be one of yours.
If that rests well with you; I'm all for it.
Kind Regards.
Manyfacets,
It's 3:00 AM here, and I'm sitting on my couch writing and reading. What a perfect time to relate to your wonderful poem.
Thanks again for reading part one of my novel. Your gracious comments have inspired me to get back to editing it.
Many Thanks,
Tim

Wee hours of the morning are the best
moments for writing silly rhymes. I
can't recall when I first started doing
it, but I know I've done a lot of it.
What you see on Booksie is just a drop
in the bucket. We are still finding the
scrappy little notes all over the house.
I'm one of those people who can't be
idle so writing at night was a quiet
task that didn't disturb the sleepers.
Thanks for commenting Tim. Regards.
Oh what a truly lovely, happy, sweet poem.
I can so identify with it. I have lost count of the number of bits of paper, torn envelopes bits of cardboard where on the backs of which i have written verses here and there, and maybe even drawn a face of someone who came to mind.
You remind me of me. I always find myself singing *in the wee small hours of the morning.......when the whole world is fast asleep*.......... :0(
And..... like you i write. I cannot stop. I am like a dripping tap which then starts to pour. if I go back to bed, (If indeed I am that fortunate and can fall asleep again) I find I cannot recall those lost odes!
Wonderful stuff.
gentle hugs :0)
Very nice and well penned! Who hasn't had sleepless nights now and then? I think I made arhyme by mistake- lol! Loved it. :)

Tiffany is is right, it's no work of art and her comment made me laugh, I loved it. It was long ago, when I wrote this one. I'm always amazed by the nice comments I get on my silly stuff. I'm starting to take what I do more seriously and I'm not too happy about that. It's no longer fun when that happens. Thanks for the read though you are so kind. Smiles M.
