THE MISADVENTURES OF JAKE

Season 01 - Episode 01: Road Trip (Part one)

========================================================================

Characters:

Jake Kitatcho, Suzie Caleb, James Stevenson, Bus Driver

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scene 1

[Jake, James, and Suzie are playing a video game together while talking to each other with their headsets]

Jake:

Great. Another capture the flag match. Can we please make this match better than our last one?

Suzie:

Sure, if you can stay alive for five seconds.

Jake:

Ha, you're hilarious. Alright. I'm going to try to go around the sides unnoticed while you two distract the enemies. Got it?

James:

Sure thing, captain.

Suzie:

So, you can take the all the fame of capturing their flag while we get our asses kicked in battle?

Jake:

Exactly!

Suzie:

Ugh... alright then...

[Moments pass]

Suzie:

Crap... I'm dead...

Jake:

As to be expected. You gotta' be more careful Suzie if you want to be as amazing of a gamer as me. My username isn't just "xxMrAwesomeMega1337Proxx" for no reason.

Suzie:

...right. I'm sorry to be such a dissapointment "Mr. Awesome"

[She rolls her eyes]

Jake:

Now, if you don't mind, I gotta' pay attention to the game. Speaking of which, how we holding up, private?

James:

We... um... lost.

[Awkward silence]

Jake:

*Cough* Um... right. Anyways, it's getting late. I should probably get some sleep. It's going to be a big day tomorrow. I mean, the first day of junior high.

Suzie:

Don't remind me. I see how those movies work. Last thing I want is to be the outcast of my class and picked on by the other girls.

Jake:

Pfft, please Suzie. If the girls see you with me, they wouldn't pick on you. You guys are lucky to be friends with the most popular kid in school.

Suzie:

You're only popular because your dad promised that you can take over his role as mayor of Kitatcho Village when you graduate. People aren't loving you because they like you, they're kissing your ass to get on your good side for when you are mayor.

Jake:

Ooouuu, someone's jealous.

[He smirks]

Suzie:

I'm not jealous, I'm... what's the point in arguing with you...

Jake:

Anyways g'night guys.

James & Suzie:

G'night.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scene 2

[Jake is waiting outside at the bus stop as Suzie walks up next to him]

Jake:

Can't believe summer's over...

Suzie:
I know... I feel like I wasted every second of it doing nothing.

Jake:

Exactly... well, it's good to finally be in Junior High this year. If elementary taught me anything, it's that old people and kids do not go good together in the same room.

Suzie:

Heh, yeah... guess you're right...

Jake:

Besides, I hear that you can get away with a lot more in Junior High...

Suzie:

So we'll basically have to put up with more of your stupid stunts.

Jake:

Exactly!

Suzie:

Well, can't be as bad as that time when you gave Mrs. Johnson a present... with you inside of it...

Jake:

What's a better gift than myself?

Suzie:

You nearly gave her a heart attack...

[The school bus arrives, they get on, and sit across the isle from each other as James peaks his head over the seat]

James:

Hi guys!

Jake:

Hm? Ah, James. Just the guy I was looking for. Hold this will you.

[Jake tosses his school bag over the seat onto James' lap]

I was planning on giving a big speach today, and I need you to write it down so people from future generations will know how much of an inspiration I was.

Suzie:

Typical...

James:

I guess I could do that...

Jake:

Perfect! Everything is going according to plan!

[The bus then pulls to the side of the road]

Suzie:
What's going on?

Bus Driver:

Uhh... bit of a problem kids... we're all out of gas.

[All the kids get up and cheer except Jake, James, and Suzie]

Jake:

W-wait... what?!

Suzie (Smirking):

Oh, what's wrong? Something didn't go your way for once?

Jake:

We're still about two miles away from the school... this can't happen! All the work I've put into this big speech... all for nothing...

James:
I thought you improvised them?

Jake:

Yeah, but it's the idea that matters...

Bus Drivers:
I'll just call the school and tell them you guys can't make it. First day of school and you lucky kids don't have to go...

Jake:

Nooooooooooooooo!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scene 3

[Jake, James, and Suzie are leaning against the side of the bud outside discussing what they're going to do]

Suzie:

I could just call my mom to come pick us up...

[She takes her phone out of her pocket as Jake smacks it out of her hand and it smashes on the ground]

Suzie:

What the hell is wrong with you?!?!

Jake:

Nothing, now follow me.

[He starts walking down the side of the highway as the two of them start following him]

James:

W-Where are we going?

Jake:

School... where else?

Suzie:

What?! You're really going to walk two miles down the road just to get to school...

Jake:

Well, duh... what other option do I have?

Suzie:

Oh, I dunno'... maybe going home like a normal kid?!

James:

I think Suzie's right Jake... I mean, two miles would take a while to walk by foot...

Jake:

A while? It'll only be about half an hour...

Suzie:

It'd just be easier to go home...

Jake:

Oh c'mon you guys. It'll be like an adventure!

James:
I do like a bit of adventuring...

Jake:

See Suzie? James has a brilliant view on this situation. When the three of us are old and grey, we'll look back on this lil' event and enjoy it.

Suzie:
You're really going, aren't you?

Jake:

Of course I am!

Suzie:

Ugh... damnit peer pressure... alright, I'll tag along... but if anything happens, it's your fault. Got it?

Jake:

Ha! I knew you'd give in eventually! Awesome, let's get going!

[They start walking down the road when a car pulls over beside them and a guy rolls the window down]

Driver:

You kids need a lift somewhere?

Jake:

We're trying to walk to Kitatcho Junior High.

Driver:

That's quite a while away. You kids need a lift?

Suzie:

Uh, sure...

Jake:

Well isn't this convenient.

[Jake gets in the front seat as Suzie and James sit in the back]

Driver:

So what's your names kids?

Jake:

Jake Kitatcho. The mayors son.

Suzie:

Suzie Caleb.

James:

Uh... James Stevenson.

Driver:

I see... and the mayors son? Well isn't that interesting. Your father must be a busy man...

Jake:

I guess so. He's a nice guy... I wish he'd stop working so much, but I guess him being busy is what gets me what I want...

Suzie:

So, what's your name?

Driver:

Joseph Hartwell. I work at a small uh... shop in the outskirts of town.

James:

I live out there... what shop is it?

Driver:

It's a small one... you'd probably wouldn't know it...

James:

Colour?

Driver:

Grey... it's got a few poster in the windows... nothing fancy.

James:

Oh! Isn't that the store that all adults go into? My mom says it's not for kids...

Driver:

Uh... you're probably thinking of something else.

James:

You sure? Because the only grey store in the outskirts is called... what was it called... like, tripple X?

Driver:

So, Mr. Kitatcho... what grade are you kids in?

Jake:

Today's our first day in the seventh grade. Our bus broke down so we decided to walk...

Driver:

I see...

Jake:

I have this huge speech to give to the class today... don't want to miss it!

Driver:

What kind of speech?

Suzie:

He always gives some big "important" speech to the class every year because he wants everyone to pay attention to him.

Driver:

Ah, a bit of a narcissist are we? (He chuckles)

Jake:

Meh, call me what you'd like. I'm open minded.

[Jake looks out the window and notices they drive past the school]

Jake:

Uhh... the schools back there... you know that, right?

Driver:

Yeah... I decided you'd guys would like to see my house first... I got a few friends your age who lives there...

Suzie:

Wait... what?

Jake:

As kind of an offer as that is, we'd really like to go to school...

Driver:

Nah, I'd think you'd rather come to my house... if you don't want to, maybe you'd like to speak to my little friend here.

[He reveals a small gun sticking out of his jacket pocket as Suzie and James gasp]

Jake (Looking nervous):

Oh! Isn't that lovely...

Suzie:

Go on an adventure you said...

James:

It'll be fun you said....
