Bright Autumn colours

A Solitary Leaf

in Autumnal Gown

A flaming leaf
was told by the breeze
to abandon
the majestic tree;
it fluttered
down,
fully complete
landing silently
right at my feet.
I picked it up
to curiously view
a tiny spider
settled there, who
scampered off,
made his escape
leaving me
with this perfect shape -
a solitary leaf,
beautifully designed,
a sculpture,
a pleasure to the mind,
wearing its best autumnal gown,
colours of red,
yellow and brown.

Erana

Such a beautiful poem.
Such beautiful words, describing the act of one single leaf, saying goodbye, act complete.
I love your poem

I love the colours of Autumn although it's the sign of coming Winter - but all seasons have their beauty, I think. Thank you for reading, Erana. Margaret
