An acorn fell into the ground...

An acorn fell into the ground,
For quite some time its sleep was sound.
Slowly, its woody husk broke wide,
No longer in the ground it would hide!

Roots slowly sought to lengthen and widen...
Their way to find food from the soil's blend.
Minerals, moisture, in just the right amounts to grow,
A tiny stem begins to show!

Pushing bravely through the earth,
The tiny shoot heralds its birth.
Spring and summer nurse it tenderly,
Tiny leaves and shoots grow shyly!

Autumn comes, leaves fall to the ground,
Forming a soft, warm bed all around.
Winter comes and with it frosts and snow,
Which in turn has its own part to play in life's flow!

The years fly quickly by,
Slowly, steadily, the sapling reaches towards the sky.
Seasons come and seasons go,
As the sapling strengthens and continues to grow!

Each year its branches have increased,
The buds of tender green, into lush leaves are released.
At autumn's turn, its own leaves fall down,
To mulch the ground with its fallen crown!

Finally the year has come at last,
When its own acorns form and are held fast...
Until the perfect time for their release,
The mighty oak assures its own increase!

"They will be called...
  Oaks of Righteousness.
  A planting of The LORD,
For the display of His Splendour!"

(Isaiah 61:3)
