BELLA.

Bella, beautiful Bella, you stole our hearts away,
When we saw you at the gates of the RSPCA.
We thought that you were leaving, but... you had just arrived!
We looked at all the other dogs, but only you our hearts beguiled!
We looked at you and called your name,
From then on our lives were never the same!

For days Anne never left your side,
Feeding you titbits... cuddling you... lovingly she tried...
To let you know that you were welcome here to abide...
Your new home would be just for you to reside!
Rachel loved to tickle your tummy -
And you seemed to find it funny!

Your loping gait was just the right speed...
The girls ability to keep up... you seemed to heed!
You'd look over your shoulder to make sure all was well,
Your tail waving like a flag, as the ground you'd smell!
Your favourite pastime was lying on your back wiggling,
Waiting for us to tickle your tum, it never ceased to set us giggling!

Such a shock we had when we finally heard you bark,
Hot air balloons caused it, to try to catch them seemed to you a lark!
You knew when we were happy... you knew when we were sad...
You'd nuzzle close with your muzzle soft... a true companion in you we had!
At mealtimes you waited patiently,
In case a morsel should accidentally fall into your vacinity!

Sadly this year we had to say goodbye,
It really was so VERY hard to do... though... we did it by and by!
A 'good age' for your breed, so we were told,
But fourteen years didn't really SEEM that old...
A wonderful lady Retriever, you stole our hearts away,
Especially when you put on your 'puppy face', SEEMING to say, "Come on - let's play!"
