CAIN.

My Father, Adam, lay with my Mother, Eve,
and so their firstborn was conceived.
My brother, Abel, followed next,
with happiness he was received.
Though life was hard,
a measure of contentment was perceived.

Our childhood days passed swiftly by,
on our parents' love we could rely.
They told us of the life they used to know,
before the serpent told his lie.
Although the banishment from Eden was tough,
they were not angry with God, but with their enemy sly!

The time came, as into manhood we grew,
for us to offer our sacrifices too!
Abel fetched a lamb he'd bred,
to be obedient to The LORD God was his view.
The LORD was Pleased and Showed His Pleasure,
Abel was Blessed he knew!

I decided to present something different,
instead of simply a lamb.
So... the first fruits of my fruit and grain,
I brought before 'The LORD I AM'!
He Turned away from my sacrifice
and inside I burned with anger - so what if it wasn't a lamb?

God Warned me about my anger,
that it would lead me into sin.
It boiled up and I murdered Abel,
in jealousy I smashed his head in!
Now I'm an exile forever, a marked man forever am I,
because arrogance and anger and jealousy I allowed to win!
