DAVID - THE KING.

After Saul died,
I cried and cried...
For Jonathan, my friend so true,
Whose loyalty to me - inspite fo his Father's hate - grew.
We'd made a vow, as young, young men,
I kept it through his son again and again.

Crowned a king, my joy knew no bounds,
I worshipped The LORD 'til I fell to the ground!
The Ark of The Covenant I brought to Its resting place,
So that we could all seek God and share in His Grace!
What a time that was, when I was so free
God Looked on me with Favour - I had a destiny!

The rot set in one beautiful night,
When I saw Bathsheba, wife of Uriah the Hittite!
My lust for her would not let me free
And so... she came and lay with me.
In time a baby was on the way,
What was I to do, what could I say?

Uriah came home from the battle at my behest,
I treated him as an honoured guest!
Sent him home with his wife to sleep,
But... as a good soldier - he preferred his honour with his men to keep!
So... back he went to the battle with a letter from me,
Led - like a lamb - to the slaughter was he!

His death assured, I married his wife,
From then on my life was one long strife!
The baby died, my family fought - and worse,
All of them lived under God's Curse.
Yet... through Solomon, God Kept His Promise to me,
In time - from my bloodline - He Sent A Saviour to Set men Free!!!
