MEMORIES OF IRELAND.

A ferry ride across the sea,
Ended in Ireland - the land of Blarney!
So many years ago it SEEMS,
But... memories bring it back like pleasant dreams!
Gentle people, full of warmth and love,
Happy to make me welcome anywhere... anytime!
Their sense of fun helped me to relax...
It really was a tonic sublime!
The beauty of the scenery took my breath away,
Both north and south were lovely as I recall...
From Antrim... to 'The Ring of Kerry'... so much to see and do...
From the Cone Mara Mountains... to Donegal!
The food was truly delicious,
And generously given where ever I ate!
The Irish Coffee was wonderful,
The snowy white table linen was great!
So many stories and legends that were told by the light of flickering fires,
The gentle lilt of the language lent its own charm!
Then off to bed to sink into restful sleep,
Secure in my LORD Jesus' Arms!
No hint of dislike because I was English,
Just three weeks before the present 'Troubles' broke out!
Through all that has followed I've puzzled,
How such hatred was not directed at me and let out!
It breaks my heart that people, who love Jesus,
Can do all that they do!
After all, we are all 'one body'... no matter what denomination,
Brothers and sisters - everyone Jesus' Knew!
So... this prayer for the land of my father...
Is for a laying down of past hurts
And true unity through Jesus 'The Prince of Peace'!
