MY SON.

You stand so tall beside me,
on the thresh-hold of life!
Memories flicker through my mind,
God Given Treasures stored in my heart!

... A small head against my breast
a tiny hand spread like a starfish.
A puckered face
that soon is wreathed in smiles!

... A damp... curly head... warm from sleep...
two little arms... twined around my neck.
"I love you, Mummy!"
You often said - worth more to me than all the money in a bank!

... "The next train stop will be at Crewe!"
You proudly said!
As you drove Granny thousands of miles -
on your 'Settee Special'!

... And then to school
not always your favourite place!
Homework became the 'bane' of your life -
at 'Bishop's' your excuses brought you fame!

... Sand and sea... lots of fun...
wonderful holidays with my Dad and Mum.
They gave them to you -
and their love ever free!

... Steam trains, old cars, 'Star Trek' too,
'Queen' and steamboats - all are part of you.
American football - 'double-dutch' to me,
but the pleasure that it gives you is lovely to see!

... You've had your problems -
perfect you'll never be.
But I'm SO Thankful
that God ENTRUSTED you to me!

... Your college days are over...
the world is your oyster.
I pray God's Blessings upon you,
to keep you always in His Care!

... Just wanted you to know,
you are held within my heart.
Dustman, or dropout, or even millionaire -
I'll always be proud of my Son, someone beyond compare!
