TINY BABIES...

Tiny babies lie asuffering,
Hardly able to even cry!
Skin like parchment, stretched and hanging,
Covers skeletons pathetic and dry.
Living in an oil rich country,
Crushed by sanctions because of one man's battle cry!

Tiny babies lie agasping,
Underneath the glaring sun.
Pot bellied, crawling with flies,
No one can find any energy to run.
Drought originally probably caused the problems,
But more and more it's the bomb and the gun!

Tiny babies lie aweeping,
Lifting imploring hands aloft.
Deliberately left to die from hunger,
By hearts so cruel, not one is soft.
What crime had these babies committed?
Born the wrong sex for their culture!

Tiny babies coldly murdered,
Even before they could be born.
No one asked if they would mind,
If they never saw the light of dawn.
Inconvenient, or less than 'perfect',
Or financially burdensome, each one a hope forlorn!

Tiny babies gurgling happily,
Bounced upon The Father's Knee!
Snatched away form the world's disinterest,
Kissed by Jesus, Who Set them Free.
Each precious soul Healed by The Holy Spirit,
Eternally Loved by the angels and The Trinity!!!

(Written after seeing a news bulletin about Iraq, when Saddam was still in power!  Then memories of other bulletins (or documentary programmes) from other countries came flooding to my mind.)
