So...

Were the hippies happy

Was there a happy hippy

Was there any pappy

Who agreed with his hippy

Sunflower child

Who made the “wrong choices”

For a boy his age

Was that hippy full of rage

At the war in Vietnam or

At his daddy and his mom

Or was that hippy happy

Happy of the drug-induced variety

Happy of community autonomy

Happy of sexual freedom

Happy of no familiarization

Do not need to know that face

Am I free

Or am I lost?

So...

Were the hippies happy

Was there a happy hippy

Was there any pappy

Who really knew his hippy

Sunflower child

Who made the “wrong decisions”

For a girl her age

Was that hippy full of rage

At the war in Vietnam

At her daddy and her mom

Or was that hippy happy

For the money and the drugs

For the buff and brawny thugs

For the freedom what to wear

For no need to shave her hair

Under there

Armpits au natural

So...

Were the hippies happy

Was there a happy hippy

Was there any pappy

Who truly got his hippy

Sunflower child

Who took the “wrong options”

For a kid that age

Was that hippy full of rage

At the war in Vietnam

At the daddy and the mom

To whom that hippy belonged

Or was that hippy happy

For the flowers and fascination

Of  power to halt assassination

For the protest marches

Of the corrupt market

Peace and Love

For Everyone

Happy hippy
