The people who were, are, and will be there for me when I fall. It is to them that I dedicate this poem: Her Laugh.

Her laugh was beautiful

She raised three children

Among them my grandmother

She could read lips, play dominos, and had all the best stories

My great grandmother's laugh was beautiful

Her laugh was wonderful

Because it was so rare

Never smiling in pictures

She had funky hair, red lipstick, and five kids

My cousin's laugh was wonderful

Her laugh is musical

With a Christian mom and a Jewish dad

Two brothers and an easy smile

Effervescently high-pitched, she is crazy

My best friend's laugh is musical

Her laugh is loud

Sadistic at times with a poignant sarcasm

Her face soft with eyes from a deeper cove

With blonde hair, but a brunette's attitude

My Grace's laugh is loud

Her laugh is true

Always one to break the silence

Self-sacrificing, happy, talented beyond measure

She became a public-school kid at the age of fifteen

My newfound friend's laugh is true

Her laugh will be her own

Features not yet formed

She is but an idea

I'll want her so much when I'm older

My daughter's laugh will be her own
