I sit on my bed

At one past midnight

Three water bottles, a glass, and Moe's to Go

Papers strewn among clothes, bins, books

I have to pick them up tomorrow

I am across from my computer

It waits, hibernating

Until it feels needed again

Laundry basket is full

Darks, whites, undies

The door is closed

Frog, the Prince of Valentine's

Is crouched beside the speaker

Nine years old

Beneath the rocker ballerina and her cat, Tetra

It sits alone on

The windowsill so far

Away from the marbles and

The stud earrings and

Basket, computer, frog, door

Christina Aguilera 1999 tape hiding
