Have you ever met someone that's changed your life in a way that you can't quite put into words? This is me, trying to put that experience into words. And it's just the beginning. Keep in mind that it's a rough draft...really, really rough.

I stayed up long after he fell asleep, just to watch. To observe. To think. To attempt to understand what was going on in that beautiful, infuriating, utterly insane head of his. It was the only time he was truly himself. It’s the only time anyone can truly be themselves, really. No one can influence your thoughts when you’re asleep. Or can they? For my own sake, I’m going to say no. I need to know that there’s at least one place where I can think freely; even if it’s only in my dreams.

We didn’t meet at a cliché coffee shop, there was no spark, our eyes didn’t lock onto each other in a way that said we were meant to be. We met through mutual friends, engaged in some small talk, and that was the end of it. We didn’t stay up all night talking about life and books and music. From what I do remember of that night (I killed half a bottle of Fireball in under an hour, so my memories aren’t up to par), I went back to my room by myself (as always) and watched an embarrassing number of episodes of Lost.

I remember the first time I looked into his eyes. I mean, really looked into his eyes. It was on a random night where we smoked a copious amount of marijuana and were both high off of our minds. At this time we were just friends, and we were so into the movie we were watching that we forgot about the world beyond the TV screen. When the movie was over, he looked at me and asked “Now what?” That’s when it happened. I looked up and saw those wonderful light eyes, and from that point on I knew I would never look at them the same. They changed me; they made me feel like I was the only person in the world, and that nothing else mattered but that moment and those beautiful pools of green.
